Housing Inventory Can’t Keep Up with Demand

While housing inventory grew 7.2 percent in April according to National Association of Realtors®, it’s still 9 percent lower than the previous year. The median days on market this past April is 29 days, which is the shortest timeframe since the NAR began tracking days on market in 2011. Sellers considering putting their home on the market will benefit from the low inventory currently available to buyers. 

Mortgage Rates at Lowest Levels of the Year 

Mortgage rates were at the lowest average of the year during the last week of May, according Freddie Mac. The 30-year-fixed-rate fell to 3.95 percent, which was a new low for 2017. The mortgage rates signal continued opportunities for buyers looking to take advantage of the historically low rates.
