  • Get to Know Me

    Hello! Have we met? I'm Mitch Darby, a registered architect and licensed real estate broker living and working in beautiful central Oregon. My history in brief is that I was born in Portland and raised in Gresham, Oregon. In 1994, I graduated from the University of Oregon with a 5-year Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Architecture (with a minor in Art History) and immediately found work at a large architectural firm in Portland. In late 1999, I sat for and passed the architectural licensing exams - officially becoming a registered architect in the State of Oregon in January 2000. In 2002, I relocated from Portland to central Oregon and have been here ever since.

    The 2008 recession triggered several rounds of lay-offs and re-hires at the architectural firms I last worked for, with one of them eventually closing for good at the end of 2012. Rather than move back to Portland (or another large metro area), I chose to stay in central Oregon and open my own company.  You can view select projects from the entirety of my architectural career to date at http://mitchdarbyarchitect.com/.

    In early 2016, with the housing market on the rebound, I decided to obtain my broker license and branch out into the world of real estate as well. While the two professions are unique unto themselves, I have found that they also complement each other rather nicely. As far as I am aware, I am the only Realtor®/Architect in central Oregon. 

    Outside of my professional life, or perhaps in support of it, I enjoy music, cinema, photography, outdoor activities, and travel. As a parting bit of trivia, those of you of a certain age (or ageless) might appreciate that a number of those pursuits intersected during a trip I took to the North African country of Tunisia some years ago where I was able to visit the shooting locations for the original Star Wars (as well as two of its prequels) along with a number of locales from Raiders Of The Lost Ark, The English Patient, The Little Prince, and Monty Python’s Life Of Brian.
