Consumer Confidence Highest in 16 years

Americans are feeling very confident and optimistic about the economy, according to the latest Bloomberg Consumer Confidence Index figures. Consumer spending accounts for 70 percent of the economy, so the positive results indicate an encouraging outlook for a strong job market and healthier household finances.

The August reading is just shy of the index’s record high of 88.3, set in July.
