Christmas week has always reminded me how fortunate my family and I are. Amidst the chaos and busy times, you can always find moments of reflection. Holiday songs strike chords of memories, twinkling landscapes take our breath away, the joy of the children partaking in traditions fills our hearts; there is no shortage of things to help us find joy.

This 2020 Christmas week has been a little different for me. I find myself thinking of those who have been affected by the pandemic and just don’t have enough to make ends meet. Between layoffs, evictions, and slow going federal aid packages a lot of families simply cannot afford to provide their family with the Christmas they deserve. I am so grateful that I have connected with organizations that assist local families in need.

One of those organizations is called Families In Transition www.fitnn.org. FIT serves families in our own backyard. Through their work in the community, FIT has connected with many families with young children who are having a hard time making ends meet. FIT shared wishlists from hard hit families this month and within minutes of sharing on Facebook we were able to help spread some cheer and check off these lists!

In 2021, I will be introducing you to organizations that I support not only with words and donations, but with deeds and service.  There’s a lot to do and every effort is appreciated. If you are interested in helping I can connect you with the right people doing the most good.

I hope you can take advantage of this slower Christmas holiday season and find some quiet time for introspection.

From my home to yours Merry Christmas!

Dana
