December 28th is the Black Friday of Real Estate

A common perception is that as the New Year approaches, real estate slows down, but surprisingly December 28th is the black Friday of real estate! According to realtor.com, December 28th is one of the busiest days of real estate searches during the course of the entire year. There is also a flurry of activity on New Year’s Day for buyers looking for homes. One of the reasons that there is a surge in buyers looking for homes is because many have the time to search after the holidays and before they return to their normal scheduled routine. 

Buyers Clamoring for New Homes

Builders continue to be encouraged by the market, with new-homes sales posting gains in the month of October. In the Midwest, new-home sales increased 5.3 percent in October month-over-month, and increased in all other regions besides the West, which saw a 0.9 percent drop, according to the National Association of Home Builders. Factors contributing to the increase continue to be a firming job market, affordable home prices, and rising demand.
