Statewide Home Prices Up, Market Times Down

The statewide median price in Illinois in January was up 8.2 percent from $171,000 the previous year to $185,000. The time that homes spent on the market was down from 69 days to 65 during the same time period. Median prices also saw an increase in the Chicagoland area, up 7.2 percent from $209,000 in January 2017, compared to $224,000 in January 2018.  

U.S. Consumer Confidence Highest in 17 Years

Consumer confidence in the economy is the highest it has been in 17 years, according to data from the New York-based Conference Board. Optimism has grown due to many factors that include rising income, and confidence in the job market has also grown to the highest level since 2001.
