Utah Leads as the Fastest Growing State

According to 2020 U.S. Census Bureau Data, Utah's growth has not subsided. In fact, the new census numbers released a few weeks ago make it clear no state is transforming faster. Utah added half a million new residents between 2010 and 2020, a combination of people moving here and Utahns having children. That’s an 18.4% growth rate, the fastest in the nation. Here are some more highlights:

• Wasatch County led the state in growth. Wasatch County grew a staggering 47.8% over the past decade. 
• Utah's population is diversifying. In 2010, 19.6% of residents were minorities. In 2020, that rose to nearly a quarter (24.6%).
• Utah is still the nation's youngest state. We also saw the fastest growth in residents 18 and older.
• Housing grew, but still not enough. Utah's housing supply surged by 17.5%– nearly triple the national increase. Despite that growth, experts estimate Utah still lacks more than 50,000 rentals and homes.
